Detroit Pistons Acquire Nerlens Noel and Alec Burks from New York Knicks

Pistons Bolster Frontcourt and Backcourt with Veteran Additions

Deal Frees Up Salary Cap Space for Knicks

The Detroit Pistons announced today that the team has acquired center Nerlens Noel and guard Alec Burks from the New York Knicks. In exchange, the Pistons sent the draft rights to Nikola Radicevic and a future second-round draft pick to the Knicks.

Noel, a 6-foot-11 center, was drafted sixth overall by the New Orleans Pelicans in 2013. He has since played for the Philadelphia 76ers, Dallas Mavericks, and Knicks. In his career, Noel has averaged 9.5 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game.

Burks, a 6-foot-6 guard, has played for the Utah Jazz, Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, and Knicks. He is a versatile player who can score, rebound, and defend. In his career, Burks has averaged 10.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game.

The acquisition of Noel and Burks gives the Pistons some much-needed experience and depth. Noel will help the Pistons protect the rim, and Burks will provide a scoring boost from the guard position. Both players are also known for their hustle and intensity, which will be welcomed by a young Pistons team.

The trade also frees up salary cap space for the Knicks. The Knicks are now estimated to have about $20 million in cap space, which they could use to sign a free agent or make another trade.
